Navigating the web site
Navigation Elements There are typically three elements that are used to naviagate the web.
- The first we have just used; a link.
- The second is an image button.
- The third is an address bar at the top of the browser window.
A Link Congratulations, you have just navigated to this page. By either clicking on the colored words Navigating the web site on the naviation bar at the left or the colored words within the previous page's paragraph, you have navigated to another page within the web site. Notice that in all cases the arrow cursor changes into a gloved hand.
This web site follows the generally accepted conventions of a web site. To move from page to page, click on the colored underlined words or the image. This will issue a request for the page that the link is referring to. This is called linking. Not all links have to be colored and underlined, but it is considered good practice.
This page is the first page of the topic and this topic continues on the next page. There are two triangle shaped image buttons just below this paragraph that graphically indicate this. The first triangle is pointed up (indicating previous page) and is faded (this being the first page in the topic, there is no previous page), while the triangle pointing down (next page) is fully colored (indicating that there is another page). Click on the next page icon (triangle image pointing down), to go to the next page.
Continued on the next page.
